Bodrai serves as an exemplary of how village deities made their way into civilization, from being a rustic unbound deities. These deities induced hope in the minds of the residents in a village. Before the Aryans invaded the land, these deities or spirits, were believed to guard the villagers and their belongings. Later when the Aryans brought with them ‘The Matsya Purana’ (their first and only purana/ a borrowed Jewish myth) and Vedas, these deities had to undergo the influence of the new Aryan ideology.
